The association was created in April 1998 during the second International Congress about Campus Security for an unlimited duration.

The purposes of the Association are to promote the common interest in the administration of law enforcement programs including the operation and development of life safety and property safety programs on University campuses, as non-profit organizations, to share and to exchange the experiences in security in Universities, to promote professional ideas and standards so as to better serve the educational objectives of Institutions of higher education.
